Karim Mussi is one of the most celebrated Argentinian winemakers of this century. Originally from Lebanon, Karim moved to Argentina at a very young age and grew up alongside his family’s wine business. 20 years ago he founded his own winery, Altocedro, and has been captivating the world with wines celebrating a strong Argentinian identity ever since.
The Los Poetas wines are Karim’s tribute to his four favourite poets—William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Walter Whitman and Jorge Luis Borges
The red is a blend of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Tempranillo and Petit Verdot. Karim has truly breathed new life into the classic Bordeaux blend. Los Poetas is beautifully balanced, medium-bodied with aromas of summer fruit and hints of spice.
The white, on the other hand, is a fresh, vibrant, single varietal which can also claim Bordeaux as its spiritual home, Semillon Blanc. The Bordelais tend to use Semillon as either a blending variety alongside Sauvignon Blanc or as the base for their dessert wines. The Los Poetas Semillon is delicately fruity with notes of white flowers and citrus fruit.
