The Tempranillo Story

19 Jul 2021

Tempranillo Blanco was discovered in 1988 by a winegrower in a Tempranillo vineyard near Murillo de Río Leza in the La Rioja province of northern Spain. While Tempranillo is a dark-skin variety used to produce red wine, the grower discovered that one of his vines had undergone a mutation that produced yellow-green clusters.

The Bodega Rioja Vega was originally founded by Don Felipe Ugalde in 1882 near the town of Viana where it remained almost unchanged until 1983, when the modern winery that stands there today was built.

Since then, Rioja Vega has sought to marry the grand traditions of the region with modern winemaking technology, techniques and consumer tastes.

The limited edition Tempranillo Blanco included in your case spends 6 months maturing in mellow French oak which imparts a subtle, silky texture balanced by aromas of tropical fruit and white flowers.
