What makes our Wine Club special?

Locals are now used to seeing the red brick Weavers shop poking out of the corner of Castle Gate, but not many know that we’ve been around since 1844. Ever since Mr Edward Cossal Weaver sold the building to George Trease in 1896, the business has passed through four generations to now be in the hands of the fifth, Philip and Mary Trease.

Joined by Mike, Chris and Pete, who combined have half a century of experience between them (and counting!) within the trade, Weavers is definitely not short of wine and spirits experts. You can be sure that anyone standing behind the Weavers counter is beyond passionate about wine and are always ready to guide fellow travellers on their wine journeys.

One of the best ways to dive right into the world of wine with us is by joining our beloved Wine Club that’s been delighting our customers for over 15 years. We go through a vigorous process of sourcing the most exceptional and interesting wines from all around the world, tasting them with the whole team and voting on our favourites.

One of our passions is pushing the taste buds of our Wine Club members and introducing them to unusual regions and wines that they wouldn’t think of trying themselves. In our recent cases we’ve had natural wines from Uruguay, exotic blends from Armenia and limited parcels from Washington state as well as classic styles from producers that we’ve been working with for decades. And to top it all off, our members enjoy exclusive discounts and promotions for use in our store. What is there not to love?!
