Aligoté is the second white grape variety of Burgundy (after Chardonnay). In good vintages, Aligoté shows very well, the grape's ripeness making for a very enjoyable crisp wine, ideal for mixing with cassis to make the cocktail kir. Unjustifiably, it is often regarded as an underdog to Chardonnay, but this particular wine is excellent.
