Vintage ports are the very best wines, made from a single harvest. They are aged in wood for between 2 and 3 years before they are assessed and a vintage declared.
Not every year is declared a vintage. If it is declared, the wine is transferred to bottle without filtration and continues to mature. These are the wines that need to be left for 15 years or more. Remember, these ports differ from the other styles of Port as they have to be aged in bottle before being ready to drink.
