Originating in Greece, Aglianico, has been adopted in Italy's mountainous, central southern area and seems to flourish on poor quality, volcanic soils. Grown mainly in Campania and Basilicata areas, its best results are found in the DOCs of Taurasi (Campania) and Aglianico Del Vulture (Basilicata). In these DOCs the wine acheives deep, full bodied and ruby colour results.
