Verdelho

Verdelho

Prevalent in Portugal, Verdelho is beginning to find fame in other global regions. In its homeland it is used primarily in fortified wines such as maderia and white port, whilst vintners of the central Dao Region use it in table wine.

In warm climates as in the Iberian peninsula, Australia and California, the vine thrives and produces superb citrus-flavoured wine. Such flavours are rare in such a climate, so the diaspora of Verdelho is likely to accentuate.

Colour and Flavours

Verdelho is light yellow in colour and often tropical fruit citrus flavours dominate. The natural high acidity of the wine makes for a rather fresh clean palate.
