Key Vines

White varieties; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay & Chenin varietals all do well. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Shiraz are all grown here for reds.

Climate and Conditions

Altitude plays a significant role in this district, reaching upto 700m above sea level in parts. These higher climbs allow for a longer ripening period, giving the grapes full flavour profiles. The climate is Mediterranean maritime; mild/damp winters and cool/dry summers. Soils vary, nutrient rich on the river plains and sandstone dominated elsewhere - these variants influencing vine growth massively.
