Farthest north of the Côte Chalonnaise appellations, and virtually touching the renowned Côte d'Or, Bouzeron has emerged from this prospective no-man's-land to bravely tread its own path. Not for the winemakers here a slavish devotion to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but instead the Aligoté reigns supreme.
When handled with care, as it often is in Bouzeron, the Aligoté grape can be fresh, zesty and rather delicious. A small amount of good red wine is also produced.
