Winemaking in this region goes back to 1600 and despite being located in Piedmonte, the winemaking and gastronomy is certainly Ligurian in style.

Vines & Styles

Cortese is the only grape grape grown in the DOCG. It's produced in still and sparkling spumante styles. The wines are light and fresh with floral aromas blanaced by a flinty minerality. A small amount is matured in barrel, called Bianco Riserva.

Climate & Conditions

Gavi is influenced by a Maritmime climate, with warm, dry summers and mild, damp winters. The sea breezes and cooler nocturnal temperatures preserve the acidity, critical to balance the fruit/floral characteristics. The soils are alluvial with outcrops of iron rich spurs.
