Vines and Styles
Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Garnacha for reds with the former being the most dominant by far. Tempranillo grown at its best can produce fruity, powerful reds with aging potential and rivalling the best Spain has to offer. The most widely planted white grape is Albillo, sometimes called Pardina, producing rich, tropical noted wines.
Climate and Conditions
The continental climate produces brutally hot summers and harsh winters. The hot summer day temperatures are tempered by cool nights, allowing the grapes to relax and impart rich flavours. Altitudes can reach 900m above sea level and the soils are limestone rich over schist bedrock, great for vine growing.
