Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine

Named after two rivers that flow into the Loire at Nantes, Muscadet Sèvre et Maine produces 80% of all Muscadet wines and they are considered the best that the Pay Nantais has to offer.  Their secret is a method of production called 'sur lie'.  This involves leaving the sediment in the wine as it develops and only removing it at the bottling stage.  The result of this is a more concentrated flavour and, intriguingly, a hint of sparkle.

Wine Style

Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is a crisp, fresh wine with a few enlivening bubbles. It is the ideal drink to partner the abundant local seafood and, though some examples will age, it is usually intended to be drunk young and with gusto.
