Dolcetto

Dolcetto

One of north-west Italy's many grape varieties, it is an early-ripening, low-acid grape, with a vibrant fruit character. There exists a range in style, from the rich flavour in Alba, Ovada and Dogliani to the lighter, more perfumed versions in Acqui and Asti.

Most wine produced is usually best drunk within a year or two of the vintage, although there are rare older vintages with more pronounced flavours.
