Europe's largest wine growing region occupies about half of the Castilla-La Mancha region.
Varieties are often chosen on their ability to survive the conditions. White varieties planted: Airen, Macabeo and Chardonnay. Reds include Tempranillo, Garnacha and Monstratell. Airen can be a neutral wine but grown well and with modern techniques can be fresh, aromatic and dry. Tempranillo can produce spicy and rich wines at a great price for the quality.
