The reds make up over three-quarters of production and are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. They are considered to be well-balanced, full flavoured and capable of ageing. The dry whites are often regarded as the best that Bordeaux has to offer. Much experimentation, not often associated with the region, has been indulged in over recent years and the results have been very good. Sauvignon Blanc, either on its own or blended with Sémillon, is the most important grape.
