A Burgundy oddity, the Saint-Burgundy is an appellation for white wine in Burgundy around the picturesque village of Saint-Bris-Le-Vineux, just south-west of the village of Chablis. What is unusual about this small region is that the wines are allowed to be made from the Sauvignon grapes, with Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris both being permitted, unlike in Chablis where the Chardonnay grape must be used.
Aligoté and Pinot Noir are also allowed to be planted here.
