The 1996 Chateau Margaux is a blend of predomanlty 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and a splash of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Has been describe as one of the strongest contenders for wine of the vintage. This stunning First Growth is in perfect harmony with fine tannins and complex layers of pure red berry fruits and spice giving it an amazing richness of character. Robert Parker Score 99/100

Widely revered as the most beautiful Chateau in Bordeaux, Chateau Margaux was built in the early 19th century and is situated in the appelation which gives it its name. Whilst viticulture has been practiced here for many centuries it was not until the 1970s that the foundations for the estates remarkable reputation began to be formed through the aquisition of and subsequent investment in the Chateau by the Mentzenopoulos family.
Today the Estate has 82 hectares under vin with three quarters of that being Cabernet sauvignon, a fifth Merlot ad small quantities fo Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The qwines of Chateau Margaux are firmly structured and have phenomenal aging potential whilst being enviably perfumed and maintaining a refined elegance.
