Mike Stacey

Hello, my name is Mike and I joined Weavers in 1984. Today, my responsibilities lie with the running and maintaining of the warehouse, from shipments to stock control. I have been in the wine trade for over 30 years now and so I have seen many changes. Most notable is the rise, fall and rise again of German wines, the emergence of the New World wines such as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Argentinean Malbec and of course the prolific gin craze! I have to say though that from hosting many tastings over the years, along with attending plenty of trade tastings, my passion is for Pinot Noir. This grape may be high maintenance to grow, but it is a grape that really expresses its place and whether it is from Burgundy, Central Otago, Oregon or even Mendoza the results really can be fantastic. When I’m not working I love nothing more than enjoying a delicious meal with my wife, children and grandchildren. Please see below for my top recommendations and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
