Klein Karoo

The Klein Karoo is a minor player in terms of both quality and quantity in South Africa.  Irrigation is a must in this arid region though the soils are rich.  The ever dependable Chenin Blanc makes decent wine from dry to sweet and Muscadel, made into dessert wine, seems to like the conditions.  Do not, however, expect to see it on the shelves any time soon.
