I first came across Joan at a tasting in 2001. Shortly after I was luck enough to be invited to his cellars behind this dusty door right in the heart of Priorat. Joan never studied winemaking at university and describe his work as the 'University of Life'.

He spends 10 months of the year in the vineyards and the remaining in his cellars. He believes in the organic approach to wine making so as to ensure that does not use any chemical herbicides or pesticides. His wines have won world wide awards, with his white winning the title of best Spanish white.
