Clean and Fresh with a Little Something Extra

Verdicchio has often been touted as one of the future stars of the Italian wine industry and the reason is that in a country normally associated with bone-dry easy-drinking whites it can develop great complexity. The grapes for this wine were grown in Monte Schiavo's 'Fossato' vineyard in the commune of Poggio San Marcello (pictured below). The vineyard is at 205 metres above sea level and the soil is clay. Vines are trained on wires in the cordon spur style. The grapes are hand harvested in October and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel to achieve the fresh, clean taste.

Verdicchio

Derives its name from the word "verde" (meaning "green"), owing to its faint green-yellow hue. These refreshing wines tend to be crisp and dry with flavours of lemon and almond -- they are the ideal accompaniment to fresh fish.
