Once upon a time, Crozes Hermitage was regarded as a poor man’s Hermitage in every sense. The latter was an appellation producing wines that were highly regarded, whilst the former was ignored by anyone who took their Rhône wines seriously. A mini revolution took place in the 1980s when wine-makers began to view the fruitier style that could be produced as a positive rather than a hindrance.
