'A. L. P. H. A.' Anthonius, Leonarda, Paulus, Henrikus and Anthonius are the names of the family that serve as an acronym for the Alpha Domus wines, with ’Domus’ meaning ’home’.
It’s been less than 25 years since the Ham family decided to enter the wine-making business and they now boast that all the wines in the Alpha Domus range are sourced from fruit they have cultivated themselves at their Hawkes Bay vineyard.
Paul(us) (pictured right) is keen to stress that that the wines he makes are all about the classic combination of Varietal character and Terroir, with the Alpha Domus wines he’s done exactly that.
Story of the Label: The de Havilland Tigermoth
The model of aircraft that adorns the Alpha Domus labels used to be flown from an airfield not far from where the winery now sits.
