I always approach white Rioja with some trepidation because they can be so hit and miss. Quality aside there is also the fact that they can be very different styles. Traditionally, much like their red counterparts, they are heavily oaked and this has been enough to put some people off them for good.

It should come as no surprise to Wine Club Members, that there is an awful lot more to this and there are a whole range of styles out there. In this month's case I've gone for the Martinez Lacuesta white Rioja as I think it sits in juxtaposition top the aforementioned preconceptions. Fresh and fruity with a good body, I would try this with barbequed fish or chicken, just the excuse you need to get the barbeque out!
