Welcome To The Crocodile's Lair!

We've got Chris to thank for this find, he came back from a tasting he attended raving about it and I'm inclined to agree that the quality is absoulty superb. I think that we're starting to see the resurgence of oaked Chardonnay in the UK, and it is this style, with its soft oaky hints, that will convert the naysayers back to this superb style.

An Elegant, Full Flavoured Wine With Subtle Oak Hints

The Kaaimansgat (or Crocodile’s Lair) vineyard is situated in the Elands Kloof Valley near the village of Villiersdorp in Overberg. Here, the vines benefit from the cooler climate, critical to producing elegant Chardonnays. The decision not to over water the vineyards means that the grapes themselves are smaller, creating a more concentrated flavour for fermentation. Oak maturation brings an added element with some subtle toasty hints supporting the full flavoured complexity of the wine.
