Italy is home to many hundreds of local indigenous grape varities, yet the one we know best is Pinot Grigio. Looking to the small town of Gavi, located the the North West of Italy, Cortese is the local indigenous grape of this area. Over the past 10 years, Gavi has gained traction in the UK market. Peronally, it's a style of Italian white I like as a believe this wine tends to have more weight and depth than its Pinot Grigo rival.
