Welcome to Gavi

We have seen a steady increase in the popularity of Italian whites in recent years. Why is this?  Well, they make the perfect summer drink and are generally light and refreshing. This month we have selected Gavi, a classic white in from the Piedmont region, perhaps one of the prettiest and most romantic wine regions in the world.

Italy is home to many hundreds of local indigenous grape varities, yet the one we know best is Pinot Grigio. Looking to the small town of Gavi, located the the North West of Italy, Cortese is the local indigenous grape of this area. Over the past 10 years, Gavi has gained traction in the UK market. Peronally, it's a style of Italian white I like as a believe this wine tends to have more weight and depth than its Pinot Grigo rival.
