Sulpicia Tempranillo

The two wines from Sulipica are not only made at the same winery but actually grow side by side in the same vineyard. In fact the extremely rare Albillo Mayer has been traced as one of the parent varieties of Tempranillo! This old vine mountain wine is rich, intense and pairs well with slow cooked lamb.

Not only do The guys at Bodegas Ermita del Conde have seriously rare grapes, ancient vineas and a unique terrioir but also one of the best up and coming wine makers in Spain. Pedro Balda was recently recognised by "The Drinks Business" magazine as one of the top 10 winemakers to watch in Spain and has never produced a vintage rated below 90 points.  The grapes are harvested by hand during the third week of October. Fermentation lasts 12 days and takes place at low temperatures. This is followed by maceration on the grape skins for between three and four weeks. The wine is aged 12 months in French oak barrels. the nose is packed with dark, juicy fruit with notes of spice and the palate is deep, rich and luxurious.
