A Tale of Sauvignon

By now you'll probably need no introduction to the world class vineyard area that is Marlborough. It's hard to believe that the first plantings in the area only go back as far as 1976 and that the flagship wine of the region, Cloudy Bay, was only established in 1985. which encompasses the best of what Marlborough has to offer whilst also doffing its cap to Sauvignon Blanc's roots back in the Loire Valley in France.

The Estate

The Estate is owned by friends Sarah Inkersell and Russell Hooper who duly make exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains to capture their individual fruit expressions. The wine exhibits the vibrant, characteristic qualities of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in an expressive style whilst showing hints of the minerality and exceptional balance of a Sancerre.

The 'Tail' (pun definitely intended)

The inspiration for the Two Tails name and label comes from an experience shared by Russell and Sarah who own the Fairbourne estate where the wine is made. Having been enchanted by a pair of rare black indigenous fantails (Piwakawak), Sarah contracted an artist to paint them. The finished artwork now takes pride of place in the home they share. The wine really lives up to this lovely story, it’s a brilliant Marlborough Sauvignon with bags of gooseberry fruit character.
