A Grand Cru of Alsace

A Grand Cru of Alsace

The renowned wine making families of Dopff and Irion can trace their viticultural heritage back as far as the 16th century and operations now reside at the splendid Château de Riquewihr. Under the stewardship of the pioneering Rene Dopff, the estate’s wines are made using the four noble varieties of Alsace - Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Gewurtztraminer - taking pride of place on some of the most exclusive tables in France including at the Palais de l’Elysée, the French President’s residence.

The prize wines of the estate are their Grand Crus, which offer incredible balance, complexity, richness of flavour and aging potential.

Alsace Grand Cru

This wine comes from the phenomenal Schoenenbourg Alsace Grand Cru vineyard which lines the south-facing hillside above the communes of Riquewihr and Zellenberg in Alsace, north-eastern France. Schoenenbourg is very much at the core of Alsace's prime vineyard belt, located in a crop of about ten Grand Crus between the towns of Colmar and Ribeauville.

This cocktail of sensational vineyard and expert winemaking results in a wine that is aromatic, peachy and honeyed with good weight and a refreshing streak of lemon on the finish.
