Thanks to all the Wine Club Members that came to our Grand Tasting at Nottingham Contemporary, this was another great success with a good turnout and some really interesting wines, spirits and liqueurs.
It would be remiss of us to do a December case without one eye on Christmas, and I know that many Wine Club Members have the self-control necessary to save the wines for Christmas Day. On the reds I have gone down the traditional route and opted for a brilliant Bordeaux. When it came to the whites I thought we'd try something a little bit different. I chose Riesling because it has the body and depth to keep pace with some of the richer foods we serve during the festive period. The Touraine is the counter to this, wonderfully light it goes well with lighter bites and can also work as an aperitif. I hope you agree with the choices I've made, I think there's something for everyone with this case. It's also quite adventurous, which has always been something we aim for with the Weavers Wine Club.
To make up for the lack of traditional wines in one respect, I've gone super safe with our Christmas gift - what could be more festive that a pair of socks! Supplied by our good friend Nick Turner who some of you may have met at the November Grand Tasting. You will be amazed at the similarities between a pair of socks and wine, and no, not that they're both great gifts for Christmas!
As a thank you for your continued support, we have also included a bottle of Gluhwein which I hope will get you into the festive spirit.
In other news, I'm pleased to announce a new venture for Weavers as we've created our own Gin using acorns foraged for by us in Sherwood Forest. We're really excited about the flavours we've created and you must make sure you come to the shop to try some. It's bound to be a hit this Christmas!
That just leaves me to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year, thanks for all you support in 2017.
Merry Christmas!
Philip
