Touraine is often called a ‘a poor man’s Sancerre’ due to it being the more affordable of the Loire Valley’s Sauvignon Blancs. It can be split into two categories: those grown on the North bank of the Cher, and those grown on the South. The North bank is where you will find vines growing side by side with asparagus and strawberries which, whilst sounding like the perfect combination, is where the more affordable wines are produced.
