Chianti Classico Montegiachi

Chianti has starred in past Wine Club cases, but this is the first time that we have put a Riserva quality wine in our red case. This is made from 100% Sangiovese and is jammed packed full of cherry fruit and spice, which is exactly what Tuscan reds should be all about.

The Chianti region is actually split into eight sub-regions which all make wines of slightly different styles and of varying levels of quality. The oldest and most prestigious of these is "Chianti Classico". These wines that tend to be medium-bodied with rich tannins and have a fresh acidity. Sour cherry and light nutty notes are characteristic aromas with the wines expressing more notes on the mid-palate and finish than at the front of the mouth. In order to qualify for Riserva quality the wine must be aged at least 24 months at the winery, and have a minimum ABV of 12%.

  1. Chianti Classico Riserva, Montegiachi

Chianti Classico Riserva, Montegiachi, 2012 75cl

From one of the more progressive co-operatives in Tuscany with an inviting bright ruby colour. Two years in oak have allowed the fruit to mature and this combines well with a strong aroma of violets.
