We start off this months case with a fabulous pair of wines from the historic Pfalz region of Germany. These wines are from the thoroughly modern, and award winning, producer Oliver Zeter and combine a profound understanding of the terroir of the region with innovation in the winery to create wines of superb finesse and structure.

On the other end of the scale we have a pair of New World wines which prioritise fruit expression and exude an easy going drinkability. These excellent value wines have been a part of the Weavers range for a while now and are also from a multi award winning Chilean winery.

We continue our exploration of Portugal with some new wines from the renowned Port producer Quinta do Portal. This magnificent producer has been producing fortified wines of note for years, but has now moved into producing light wines made from grapes grown on the banks of the river Douro. We were really impressed by the quality of these wines and hope that you will be too.

Finally we have included one of the original "Big Reds", the black wine of Cahors. This is one of the original styles of Malbec which many of you will be aware has had a recent renaisance in Argentina.

Lastly I would like to thank everyone who attended the Wine Club Memebers Tasting on July 13th. The evening was a great success and lots of new and interesting wines were on show, many of which will be finding their way into future Wine Club cases. As ever there was plenty of feedback, including some constructive critisism for which we are always grateful as it helps to guide the composition of the cases for the coming year.

I really hope that you enjoy the wines in this months case and with you an enjoyable end to the Summer!
