This historically important region is the homeland of the ancient Samnite people, and is a land of undulating hills and plains which even has its own particular micro-climate that protects it from the excesses of heat and cold. As is usually the case in Italian wine-making they concentrate almost exclusively on local indigenous grape varieties and commit themselves wholeheartedly to producing quality wines which reflect the cuisine and terroir of the region.
The wine has a straw-yellow colour and a strong fruity bouquet. The fruity nuances increase progressively leaving a well-balanced, pleasant and refreshing finish. Ideal with light appetizers, gnocchi or home-made pasta with tomato sauce.
The wine has a deep colour with garnet hints. Cherry nuances melt with sweet vanilla notes given by ageing in the wood. In the mouth it is full, powerful and intense with a light and soft tannic structure that enhances a good finish. Ideal with pasta with tomato and meat sauce and vegetables and soups.
