Whilst we are well on our way into 2018, I’d like to briefly reflect upon the last year for a moment. This is because the 2017 vintage will globally go down as a truly tough year in the wine trade. Wine production across the world has suffered as a result of a series of natural disasters including hail storms and bitter frosts, not to mention the devastating fires in Napa. Consequently, harvests have reached a record low, the likes of which haven’t been seen since WWII. This, along with the ups and downs (mainly downs) in the strength on the pound, will subsequently have a knock on effect to all wines imported into the UK in the coming months. To see what has been happening please take a moment to read the feature article.
We still have plenty planned for all our Wine Club members this year. In particular we are hosting our annual Wine Club members tasting. This is a great opportunity for you all to step into the buying shoes of Chris, Peter and myself and decide on the selection of wines for the coming months. So please do come and join us on Wednesday 21st March and see what it is like being a wine buyer for the evening. You can order your tickets online from our website or if you prefer, do come into our shop and one of the Weavers team would be more than happy to help.
This just leaves me to say I hope the New Year is treating you all well and that you enjoy the mix of the old favourites and the great new finds!
