Rhone Influence in the Colchagua Valley

Rhone Influence in the Colchagua Valley

Alto Los Romeros is a small estate tucked away in the hills of the Colchagua Valley. It is here that the name, Alto Los Romeros, was given to the charming meadows of wild rosemary that grow on the peaks of the hills in Puquillay Alto, right in the heart of Chile’s Colchagua Valley.

Alto Los Rameros has a clear vision which is to make the best wine with the fabulous terroir that is on offer. Here, the coastal influences match that of the Rhone Valley and as such, they grow many of the same grape varietals such as Roussane and Carignan.

The Gran Reserva wines are made using carefully selected grapes from their best vineyards and we have picked two for you to try.

The Roussane Marsanne is a blend of both grape varietals that marry in a way that offers both body and freshness. On the palate are spicy pear notes and floral acidity with touches of orange zest perfect for any chicken dish, especially if spiced.

The Carignan is a wine with structure and body. The plate offers rich plums and cherries with a backdrop of toasted spices. A real pleaser with any grilled meat but lamb would be my choice!
