Whilst the majority of wine drinkers wil be familiar with the Sauvignon Blancs from Marlborough, far fewer will be as well versed in the wines of Central Otago, which is further to the South near the ski haven of Queenstown. These wines are less intensely aromatic in style, but tend to be more balanced. You may even find some red fruit aromas to accompany the classic gooseberry notes associated with the grape.
