Whilst not being the most common of the Bordeaux grape varieties Semillon is arguably responsible for producing the regions most expensive and sought after wines. As in Bordeaux the grape can be employed to make lusciously sweet, botrytis affected dessert wines, but also posess the versatility to create powerful dry wines such as the one in this months case.
This superb example from the Clare Valley exhibits a rich bouquet of straw and savoury spice notes from the time it spends aging in oak. The nose is vibrant and lively, with citrus fruit aplenty which leads on to a rich palate and harmonious finish.
