Mixed Selection

Hello and welcome to Arpil’s Wine Club Case!

It hardly requires me to mention that these are highly unusual times but life goes on and so must we. With that in mind we have a great selection of wines to push your taste buds and broaden your viticultural horizons.

To kick off this month's case we have a superb pair of Italian wines which really showcase the versatility of this great wine producing nation. The Valpolicella Ripasso from Tuscany is a wine with centuries old history and uses techniques which have been passes down from generation to generation as is the case with wine maker Giuseppe Lonardi. On the other hand you have a Fiano from Puglia where modern wine making techniques preserve the wines fresh aromatic character to an exceptional degree.

We also take the opportunity to revisit the wines of Austria, an often neglected “sleeping giant” of the wine world. The Gruner Veltliner in this months case comes from the historic Domäne Baumgartner whose history stretches back to the 17th century.

Sticking with traditional wines I thought it would be a shame not to include a claret. The wine that I have opted for breaks from some of the traditions of this highly regulated area of production but is wonderfully balanced and is the result of masterful blending.

Portugal rears its head once again with another superb wine from the Douro which proves once again that Portugal is king when it comes to value for money.

Finally we have a wine from our old friend Alan McCorkindale who pays homage to some unlikely employees

Many thanks for your continued support and I hope that you enjoy the case!
