Vintage Port

Vintage ports are the very best wines, made from a single harvest. They are aged in wood for between 2 and 3 years before they are assessed and a vintage declared.

Not every year is declared a vintage.  If it is declared, the wine is transferred to bottle without filtration and continues to mature. These are the wines that need to be left for 15 years or more. Remember, these ports differ from the other styles of Port as they are have to be aged in bottle before being ready to drink.

  1. Taylors,1980

    Taylors,1980 75cl

Early tastings of the 1983 vintage saw most wines being dismissed as adequate if not a classic. Most were seen as powerful yet austere and generally overshadowed by the superb 1985's. As time has gone on however the 1983's have opened up beautifully and are now considered to be a classic with masses of concentrated fruit, soft luxurious tannins and a huge, satisfying finish.
