Aglianico

Originating in Greece, Aglianico, has been adopted in Italy's mountainous, central southern area and seems to flourish on poor quality, volcanic soils. Grown mainly in Campania and Basilicata areas, its best results are found in the DOCs of Taurasi (Campania) and Aglianico Del Vulture (Basilicata). In these DOCs the wine acheives deep, full bodied and ruby colour results.

  1. Château Fourcas Hosten, Listrac Médoc

Château Fourcas Hosten, Listrac Médoc, 2007 75cl

Lots of black fruit flavour here with black cherry most detectable. The fruit is supported by supple tannins that make for a medium bodied wine that is ready to go but will happily cellar for another year or so.

  2. Taurasi Villa Raiano

    Taurasi Villa Raiano, 2010 75cl

Aromas of red berries, cocoa, and minty tobacco. In the mouth, blackberry and mulberry fruits marry with soft tannins. A pleasurable drink crying out to be matched with food, especially game, red meat and tomato based dishes.
