Basically, the organic approach to viticulture uses entirely natural methods for controlling diseases and pests. An audit trail usually has to be in place so that the accredited body and scrutinised the wine from vineyard to its final bottling.

Country to country (and even region to region) have adopted different approaches with which to certify organic vineyards. This is why it is difficult to put a definitive stamp on the term 'Organic Wine'.
