I have worked at Weavers, on and off, all my life. In the early days, it was making up gift boxes, stocking the miniature bottle shelves and helping with tastings. Upon returning from studying Business Management at Newcastle University, I worked on the first Boots website; this would prove invaluable when designing the Weavers site.
I joined Weavers in 1998 which has afforded me the opportunity to work in all aspects of the business. I launched our first website back in 1999, for which we were regional winners in the Online UK Business Awards in 2000.
In 2001, I was lucky enough to win the Nottingham Roosevelt Travelling Scholarship. For this, I spent three months travelling around the US looking at the evolution of the internet and the impact this would have on businesses in the future. This scholarship still runs today.
Over the 20+ years I have been at Weavers I have been fortunate enough to see the business grow, along with the changes in trends of wine and spirits buying.
My role today involves sourcing and buying wines and spirits, running our successful Wine Club and looking after our clients, of course.
I also run most of the wine tasting events that we host at Weavers, including ticketed tasting events for the general public. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please do have a look at our tasting page with dates and prices of our upcoming events.
Outside of wine, I am quite an active person with an interest in most sports; squash and tennis, in particular. I also have a love of classic cars and you may see a little yellow mini buzzing around town. My mid-life crisis has taken a hold in that I have recently taken up the guitar!
