Sauvignon Blanc is easy to grow - and is highly popular, thanks to its aromatic qualities. In Bordeaux, Sauvignon Blanc is blended with Sémillon to make dry table wine and sweet dessert wine; in the Loire Valley, it plays a solo role in many of the region's table wines.
The Sauvignon Blanc market in the New World is dominated by New Zealand, where tropical fruit aromas follow a refreshing acidic finish. In recent years, South Africa has been producing some excellent wines, often aged in oak, and Chile is once again leading the low price market.
