Bordeaux Blends

The term 'Bordeaux Blend' simply refers to wines that have been made from grape varieties that make the classic styles of wine from the Bordeaux region in France. The key varieties that make these wines are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petite Vedot to name but a few. However, depending on which region of Bordeaux the wine comes from will determine the proportion of which grape are used in the blend.

The term is also used as a point of reference for wines from the New World, though this can be miss leading as the styles of wine will be different.
