One of the most difficult challenges which faces a wine merchant is trying to persuade people to try Spanish wines other than Rioja. Those of you who have spoken to me at tastings or in our shop will know my passion for the lesser known Spanish regions so expect to see a couple of new and interesting grape varieties and styles.
May was an extremely busy month at Weavers in which we hosted no less than 3 tasting events! The first was one of our favourite nights of the calendar, the Wine Club Members Tasting. This is where we try out a few new wines and you tell us whether or not they’re up to scratch so expect to see those which passed our final quality control test in future cases. Second was our grand portfolio tasting at the beautiful Swancarr Farm Country Hotel. Finally we were very lucky to be able to host Graeme Crosbie, head winemaker at Domain Road Winery in Central Otago, New Zealand. Thank you so much to all those who attended and we’d appreciate your feedback. If you missed any of these events please remember to check online or ask in the shop which tastings are coming up.
May also saw the continued success of our free Saturday cellar tastings. These are held every Saturday by either Pete or Chris who will talk you through the wines of a certain region or style in our converted wine cellars at No.1 Castle Gate. As I mentioned earlier these are completely free and there’s no need to book so just pop in on a Saturday afternoon and see what’s on offer.
Thanks for all you support and we hope you enjoy this month's case!
