Wines from this DOCG can be labelled Conegliano-Prosecco or Valdobbiadene Prosecco. If grapes are from San Pietro di Barbossa labels can state Superiore di Cartizze after the forementioned. There are 13 towns, as well as the communes of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, making up this DOCG.
Glera must constitute 85% of a Prosecco blend while numerous varieties including Verdiso, Bianchetta Trevigiana, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero. The sparkling wines from here are made using the Charmat method, where secondary fermentation occurs in a sealed tank opposed to in the bottle. The wine is generally in Spumante/foaming style or Frizzante/lightly sparkling, the difference between these two being the amount of pressure in the bottle.
