Vintage Guide

Vintages can be really important when choosing wine. We are currently working on an easy guide to choosing wine by vintage. Whether you want to drink it right away, hold onto it for a couple of years or cellar it to age, we will offer our advice. In the meantime, please do get in touch with any question you may have.

Wines and fortified wines that are classed as 'ready to drink now' are either made by the wine-maker to drink straight away or we have bought wines that have have 'done their time' in the bottle and are ready to drink now. The technical reasons for this is generally that the fruit and tannin profile of the wine is such that we believe that the should be drunk and not cellared. Read more

These wines fall in the half way house between ready to drink and could improve with three to eight years in the cellar from the date of the vintage. Read more

These are perfect for cellaring (though this does not help our turn over...) At the moment they will be high in tannins or acidity and need time in which to soften. The wines will tend to develop and show complex and rich characters through time resting in the bottle. Read more
