Rosé wines are construced from red grapes, allowing the juice in contact with the skins only for a limited period to inhibit the full development of a red colour.
The length of such will determine the hue, with deep garnet reds (produced by Australian Grenache) signalling a fuller-bodied and richer character than the delicate pink Zinfandel of California.
